My Sassy Girl (Movie)

I don't know much about art. So I will just write about a Korean movie, my sassy girl.
The story is actually based on a true story. The bit where Gyeon-woo starts journaling and writes his story about his relationship is very similar to how the actually writer ended up writing this movie. The ending, however, is different for the sake of the movie. I don't think the english version will be nearly as funny, endearing, or even be similar to the original. Much of what makes My Sassy Girl so funny is cultural. Many of the jokes and situations are very culture specific, set in the korean culture. In the U.S., they just would not translate well.
I absolutely love the guy who plays Gyeon-woo(hero) because he is so funny. However, a heroin is very convincing in the film as well. The Sassy Girl's so sassy, she will make you want to... get sassy with ther yourself!
She comes across as such a nasty b*tch bully that you'll feel like reaching over and poppin;her on the noggin for such bratth behaviour. But underneath all that attitude lies a vulnerable girl who has loved and lost. You'll need patience watching the show, as it takes quite a while to get to the part where all is revealed.
The good thing is, the conclusion to the story surprised me. It makes watching all the abuse Gyeon-woo had to endure in his quirky relationship with the volatile Girl more bearable.
I got a little tired of the show a little past mid-point but the big reveal totally saved it. In the end, I enjoyed thd flick... it's very clever.
So popular is the movie that hollywood is making a remake of it.

"Island of the Gods"

One moment which marked a great point in my life was Jeju island Trip, when I was 12 years old. It was a very special trip because it was the first time of my life to take a flight. Also, my parents are two-career couple, we didn't have many opportunity to take a long trip.
Jeju island was much more amazing than I ever had imagined. Its’ oranges were so great. Coming to think of it, I had eatten about 50 oranges during the 7 days. I was like an orange-holic at that time.
In contrast to the rainy sky in Daegu(my hometown), it was freshing clear in Jeju island's. Jeju has many tourists's destinations. Expecially I remember Mt. Halla , Seogwipo, Yeomiji botanical gardens and Cheonjeyeon waterfall. Mt. Halla is the highest mountain in my country(South Korea). It is visible everywhere in Jeju. The weather was warm and there were lots of beautiful flowers even though it was still Winter. Especially, Seong-San Sunrise peak was so fantastic. This is also the place where photography of my favorite TV drama "My name is Sam Sun Kim" was taken.
Everything was perfect for us.

Tuk Bokki♡

I would like to tell you about a recipe of "Tuk Bokki". Tuk Bokki tastes sweet and a little hot. It is especially popular among students and the youngs. In making this food, sauces are very important. To make it delicious, you need to mix many ingredients properly. Now, I tell you about the ingredients. You need thin white rice cake and boiled fish cake. To spice up, you need Gochu-jang, Tongkkae or sesame oil, cayenne, garlic, salt, sugar and soy. You may substitute starch syrup with sugar and garlic. Of course, You can add vegetables; onions, carrots, cabbages, and mushrooms. Prepared eggs or noodles should be added as needed for better taste. If you want to make special Tuk Bokki, you can put more of other ingredients; like curry, noodles, beef, and octopus. Let's cook.First, take the best quality of white rice cake and chop them into smaller pieced for nice-bites. Ideal is to cut the rolls of rice cake about the length of a finger. Length should not be a big problem if you don't mind eating with hot pepper paste all over your mouth. Cut vegetables into proper sizes and steam in boiling water followed by rinsing in cold water.

Take the white rice cake that we cut into smaller pieces above, then put water in a bowl with them and boil it. If you put meat based soup instead of water, it will rich the flavor. As a matter of fact, the secret of the popular Tuk Bokki is meat soup. Next, make seasoning. Needless to repeat, sauce are really important. Put sugar or starch syrup. Put Gochu-jang, cayenne, and other ingredients. You can use ketchup, too. It would taste much better with what we usually call chunjang. When it is nicely boiled, put the chopped rice cakes in carefully. And it's time to put spices. And you can put boiled fish cake, eggs, noodle, or hams according to your appetites. After that, mix all ingredients together and stir well. Taste it to see how it is seasoned with salt. Season it with some more salt, if it is insipid. Making it such well seasoned is from experience and devotion is the heart of cooking. Cook it with true heart. Next, add Tongkkae or sesame oil and place it in a dish. Finally, eat deliciously. We used to eat Tuk Bokki a lot. Making Tuk Bokki is not difficult. Give it a try and you will make it. If you have just a little sense of cooking, you can make your own special Tuk Bokki.

My favorite places...

I was born in "Daegu" which is third largest city in south Korea. I think that Daegu is very nice city to live in. The weather is not that good because it forms a basin, but we have beautiful 4 weathers. Also, many means of transportation makes us convinient. And there are many nice places to visit in and near my hometown. One of beautiful place is Palgong Mt. But I will not introduce that place because Yookyung sister introduced already. So I will show you Kyung-joo, a historical city. It was the ancient capital of the "Silla Dynasty a millennium and more ago". I often visit Kyung-joo to refresh my mind. It takes less than 2 hours from Daegu. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful place in Kyung-joo is "Anapji Pond".

This pond was a splendid decoration for the Silla palace.
With a size of 190 meters from east to west and 190 meters from north to south, with an irregular shape, one cannot get a complete view of the entire pond from one point.
About 30,000 treasures, including roof tiles, earthenware, metallic handicrafts and images of Buddha were excavated from this pond; they are on display at the Gyeongju National Museum.

Bulguksa Temple, built with a combination of stylish architecture, Buddhist spirit and natural surroundings, symbolizes Buddha's land on earth.
The stone layers harmonize perfectly with the different structures, such as the several halls and the statues of Buddha within them.
Bulguksa Temple was built in the 10th year of King Gyeongdeok,751 A .D. by Kim Dae-seong, in memory of his parents. It was restored to its original condition in 1973.
It was designated as the UNESCO Cultural Heritage on December 6, 1995.

Seokgulam Grotto was built in memory of Kim Dae-seong's parents in 751, the 10th year of King Gyeongdeok's reign, completed over a span of thirty years.
Seokgulam, made of rough and solid granite, has been unparalleled in history.
It was designated as the UNESCO Cultural Heritage on December 6, 1995 too!!
Seokgulam Grotto consists of a square antechamber, a round chamber and a passage connecting the two chambers. It represents the universe, with heaven round and the earth square.
Sculptured in relief on granite slabs, flanking the wall Buddha and the Buddhist world, are eight guardian demons, two Vajurapanis (guardian gods of the temple) and four ferocious guardians.

My siblings

I have one older sister and younger brother. As you can see, my brother is so young. (The difference is 11 in age!) And my sister looks like elf. When we come together, we clamor out so my home is always noisy. HaHaHa!

Now, I readily adapted my self to the new environment. But one diffidulty is enduring longing about my family.

Twenty + One

One of flow in my character is depending on others too much. In addition, most of parents support their children emotionally and financialy too much, in Korea. So I thought that this season can be a good chance to change my self. I'm pretty sure that I will be able to develop my ability standing alone.
